Okay can The voice are you crowning John Holiday, season 19 winner? Because his performance in the semi-finals pretty much sealed the deal in our book. The native Texan took to the stage on Monday night to sing a particularly emotional rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You,” which the song dedicated to John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen after the loss of their unborn son Jack. While talking to Holiday about the poignant song selection, Legend said to him, “I’ve been through what we went through as a family this year … there are just a lot of people out there who can fight and take advantage of that message.”
Holiday began his captivating performance by singing and playing the piano at the same time before stepping off the bench to get the rest of the track out in the middle of the fog-covered stage. The bridge’s lyrics – “tears run down your face” – certainly hinted at how the judges reacted to his angelic song. Kelly Clarkson said, “The very last thing you just did broke me in a way that I just turned off.” Meanwhile, Legend admitted, “I mean, I’m crying here.” Same man. . . equal. Take a pack of tissues and check out the entire Holiday performance.
