POV: It’s Monday night. You just got home from a day of work (or a take-away walk from home after work) and jumped in the shower to scrub the outside grime off your skin. Take off the outfit of the day. Foam, rinse. You step out of the shower onto a bamboo bath mat, soak your limbs in thick, amber-colored body oil, tap off excess water and straighten your hair. The summer sun hasn’t set (it’s stubborn!) And you have a handful of hours before you should probably actually go to bed. But what you’d wear during the day for lounging around are leggings that stick to your freshly moistened self, so stepping into a pair feels more like writhing in latex. And your nightly comfy clothes are a selection of ragged t-shirts and knobbed sweatshirts that don’t sound particularly appealing either. What if friends stop by later?
You need to wear something. What now?
Perhaps the answer is a robe that you can wrap yourself in right after you shower. The lightest options are silk, satin, and linen – then there is waffley cotton, terrycloth, and plush. Do you know those extra luxurious bathrobes in hotel spas? They are often available for purchase. Or how about a cute cotton bralette and slip combination? It will give you support, but not too much support, you see? If you have roommates, a cute pajama set might be a better, slightly more humble option. You can get these cheaply these days (although the expensive options haven’t ceased to be beautiful). And should we explore nightgowns? Or what Nell Diamond would call them, “neck dresses”?
What are you wearing these days? Not in a creepy way from Tinder or a Jake from Statefarm – more precisely, what comfortable, chic loungewear do you wear in the hours between Doing Stuff and REM? We’ll post our best recommendations below, and hope you do the same. In the words of an ITG Facebook group member: “I’m tired of dressing like Adam Sandler for my skin care.”
